Fallen walker rescued by air ambulance after suffering head injury at Dancing Ledge

A MAN was flown to hospital by the air ambulance after falling and hurting his head at cliffs near Swanage.

The man was trying to access the lower ledges at Dancing Ledge just before 1pm on Friday (March 28) when he fell and hurt his head.

Coastguard teams from Swanage, St Albans, Kimmeridge and Poole, along with both RNLI lifeboats from Swanage, a rescue helicopter 175 from Lee on Solent, Dorset and Somerset air ambulance, and crews from South Western Ambulance and Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue all attended the scene.

A spokesperson for Swanage Coastguard said: “Having reviewed medical treatment at [the] scene, he was flown to the Poole hospital helicopter landing site by the air ambulance, being met by the Poole Coastguard team who cleared the site at Whitecliff.”
