A BIKER in his 70s suffered a “serious” neck injury after hitting an embankment while avoiding a van, police said.
The incident infolded on the Corfe Road, near Corfe Castle, at around 9.15am on Friday, July 26, police said, with the van reported not to have stopped.
“It was reported that the motorcycle collided with the embankment after taking evasive action to avoid a white van,” a Dorset Police spokesperson said.
“The driver of the white van reportedly failed to stop at the scene.
“The motorcyclist – a man aged in his 70s – was taken to hospital for treatment to a serious neck injury.”
PC Rob Cook, of Wareham police, said: “An investigation is underway and we would like to hear from any witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, who have not already spoken to police.
“I would also urge the driver of the white van to please do the right thing and get in touch with us so we can take your account of the incident.”
