A MAN has been hospitalised after being “punched in the face” in Upton, police say.
Dorset Police said they received a report on Saturday (October 12) that a man in his 50s sustained serious injuries after being punched in the face by another man at the Upton Social Club in Poole Road.
The victim was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
A man in his 30s was arrested and has been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court today (October 14).
A Bournemouth woman in her 30s was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
She has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
Detective inspector Simon Austin, of Dorset County Criminal Investigations Department, said: “This incident left the victim with serious injuries and we responded swiftly to attend the scene and launch a full investigation into the circumstances.
“Following enquiries, a man has now been arrested and charged in connection with the reported assault.
“We are continuing to carry out further investigations, and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police or anyone with further information to please contact us.”
