A MAN has been charged with a number of driving offences – including failing to stop after a road accident – after he reportedly crashed a stolen car in Poole.
Dorset Police received a report that overnight between September 10 and September 11 a grey Volvo XC90 had been stolen from an address in the Westbourne area of Bournemouth.
At around 6.25pm on September 11, the vehicle was seen in the area of Poole town centre and reportedly failed to stop for officers.
Searches were carried out, assisted by the National Police Air Service helicopter, and the car was subsequently found in Alder Crescent where it had collided with a red Alfa Romeo.
A 20-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and was subsequently charged with dangerous driving, failing to provide a specimen, driving without insurance, driving without a valid licence, failing to stop after a road accident and vehicle theft and damage.
The man will appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on September 13 for a remand hearing.
The date of his next court appearance has yet to be decided.
