Charity golf day raises money for Poole hospice and Motor Nurone Disease charities

A CHARITY golf day at Ferndown Forest Golf Club raised £17,000 for Motor Nurone Disease (MND) charities to aid research and support – with £4,100 donated to Forest Holme Hospice Charity in Poole.

The event was organised by Danny Fudge-Harman, 36, an estate agent who was diagnosed with MND in 2013. Following his diagnosis, he’s made it his mission to raise awareness and help others affected by MND through his campaign Danny’s MND Foundation.

Danny has thanked those that attended the golf day as well as those that donated.

He said: “To all those who kindly made donations for our golf day charity event, we are immensely grateful for their generous contributions.

“The support in donating items for the auction and raffle was essential in making the event a success, and thanks to everyone’s generosity, we were able to raise significant funds to support those affected by MND and further our mission to find a cure.”

Forest Holme Hospice Charity is particularly close to Danny’s heart as they part-fund an MND co-ordinator, Annemieke Fox, who supports people with MND and their families from diagnosis onwards including Danny and his family.

Danny said: “I am grateful to have found support in people like Annemieke at Forest Holme, who have been invaluable in helping me navigate the complexities of my condition.

“Her support and skills extend far beyond my medical care. She offers guidance and counsel for my wife and children as well, recognizing the impact that this condition has on our entire family.

“Her willingness to listen, to offer advice, and to provide emotional support has been a lifeline for us during some of our darkest moments.

The event was sponsored by Asbury Heating and Maintenance and Volvo of Poole.
