THOUSANDS of petrolheads are expected to descend on Dorset in May for the return of a popular motor show.
The Dorset Blind Association Motor Show is set to take place at Lulworth Castle on Sunday, May 21.
Now in its seventh year, the 2022 event saw more than 3,000 motoring fans turn out, raising more than £15,000 for the charity.
Hosted by the Dorset Blind Association, the show is sponsored by Blue Sky Financial Planning and sees owners of classic and supercars, motorbikes and all types of motor vehicles show off their prides and joy.
Exhibitors can now book to attend and are encouraged to do so soon, to avoid disappointment, organisers said.
“In 2022, there were over 200 cars on display, plus club stands from BAD Abarth and Porsche Club GB,” a spokesperson said.
“Over 3,000 members of the general public attended throughout the day, raising awareness and vital funds to help the charity support the blind and partially sighted people across Dorset.”
Gary Neild, from Blue Sky Financial Planning, said: “What an enthusiastic bunch of people. We admire the DBA team for their immense passion for how they can help others live more fulfilling lives.
“While we operate in a different sector, this resonates greatly with us at Blue Sky, as our main emphasis is focused on ‘what we cause and how we make people feel’.
“A natural partnership, I would say.”
Kicking off with a 20-mile ‘Dorset Tour’ sponsored by Summit Land and Development, car enthusiasts will take to the roads of Dorset at 10.30 am, touring the county countryside and returning to the Lulworth estate to join the Castle showground display.
The showground will be open, free of charge, to the general public from 11am, offering a family fun day with live entertainment, kids’ fun area, food stalls and local artisan craft and handmade produce stalls.
Show regular Fred Potter, who drives a Porsche R26, said: “We have attended the Dorset Blind Association Motor Show at Lulworth Castle for many years, and it is no doubt our favourite event in our calendar.
“Displaying our car in front of the castle is a unique opportunity, and we love the atmosphere; plus, it’s all for a great cause.”
