A MAN has been arrested in connection with an incident that saw a vehicle fail to stop for police.
The incident unfolded at around 12.10am on Wednesday morning (July 19), when officers responded to reports of a vehicle behaving suspiciously in the Highcliffe Cliff Top car park, Christchurch.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said as officers entered the car park, it is alleged the vehicle – a silver Renault Clio – made off at speed and failed to stop.
It is reported the vehicle subsequently travelled along Waterford Road, Montagu Road, Mill Lane, Lymington Road, Chewton Common Road, Braemar Road, Pinewood Road, Amberwood Road, Ringwood Road, Elphinstone Road, Lyndhurst Road, Station Road, Hinton Wood Avenue, Castle Avenue and Gordon Road.
A 21-year-old man from Christchurch was later arrested on suspicion of driving offences.
PC Mark Burton, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “I am carrying out enquiries into this incident and would ask anyone who saw what happened to please come forward.
“I would like to appeal to anyone who was driving in any of the roads mentioned and has a dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check for any relevant footage.
“Similarly, I am keen to hear from any residents in the vicinity with home CCTV systems if they have any footage to assist my enquiries.”
