Fire crews tackle blaze at Dino’s Takeaway in Swanage – caused by fat fryer

A SWANAGE takeaway has suffered significant damage following a fire.

Four crews from Swanage, Wareham, Poole and Westbourne were called out to Dino’s Takeaway at The Square at around 3.24pm last Thursday (March 6).

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue says the fire, caused by a fat fryer,  was accidental.

“We were called to reports of a commercial property fire,” a spokesperson said.

“Four crews attended and four breathing apparatus wearers used two hose reel jets and one safety line to extinguish the fire, which started accidentally in a takeaway kitchen’s fat fryer.”

A JustGiving page has been set up in aid of the business.

It reads: “Due to an unfortuante incident today which is well documented on Facebook pages etc, Christian the owner, finds himself without a business to run and his loyal employees without a job.

“We all know and love DINO’s, but there are still bills to pay.
“We all know what’s happened. Let’s rally together and help a local business and owner. Any donation will be gratefully accepted and all proceeds given to Christian.”
