Woman in her 90s suffers “very serious” injuries after being hit by car

A WOMAN in her 90s suffered “very serious” injuries after being hit by a car in Poole.

The incident happened at around around 9.10am on Saturday (January 6), Dorset Police said, in Blandford Road North, near Douglas Close, and involved a blue Ford Focus and the pedestrian.

Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are believed to be very serious.

Her family has been informed, said Sergeant Richard Stroud, of the Roads Policing Team.

“We are carrying out a number of enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision and I am keen to hear from any witnesses to the incident, or the manner of driving of the vehicle involved prior to it,” Sgt Stroud added.

“I would also ask anyone who was driving in the area around the time of the collision to please check any dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything of relevance.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the incident.”
