A WEATHER warning has been issued for much of Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset for this weekend – including flood warnings for Poole and Christchurch Harbours.
The Met Office is forecasting ‘unseasonably windy weather’ on Saturday (August 5), with the warning in place between 6am and 9pm.
“Unseasonably windy weather will affect parts of the UK on Saturday leading to a risk of disruption to travel and outdoor activities,” a forecaster said.
The Met Office warned people to expect:
* There is a good chance of longer journey times or cancellations as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected
* There is a chance that some roads and bridges could close
* There is a chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
* There is a small chance of injuries from flying debris, and large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties
* There is a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, as well as to temporary structures and tents
Flood warnings are also in place for a host of rivers, streams and coastline, including at Christchurch Harbour and Poole Harbour.
