Early morning Poole attack left man with broken wrist and shoulder

A MAN was left with a broken wrist and shoulder after being attacked in the street in Poole on New Year’s Day.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following the serious assault, in Skinner Street at the junction with Perry Gardens, at around 6.15am on Sunday, January 1.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said the victim – a man in his 40s – was approached from behind by a group of men and hit.

“He fell to the ground and was subsequently kicked by the offenders,” they added.

“The victim attended hospital the following day where it was found that he had sustained a broken wrist and shoulder, as well as bruising to his eye socket and back and cuts to his head.”

The incident was reported to Dorset Police on Wednesday, January 4.

Detective Constable Gregory Plant, of Bournemouth CID, said: “This was an unprovoked assault and we have been carrying out numerous enquiries since the incident was reported to identify the offenders.

“While I appreciate the assault took place a few weeks ago, I am hoping someone may remember witnessing the incident or seeing a group of men acting suspiciously in the area during the morning of New Year’s Day.

“I would urge anyone with information about those responsible to please contact Dorset Police.”

Anyone with information should contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk/contact, or by calling 101, quoting incident number 55230001501.
