FIREFIGHTERS will be turning their hoses on cars instead of flames this weekend during a charity fundraiser.
Drivers in Swanage are being urged to bring their cars to the town fire station between 10am and 2pm on Saturday (July 22), where crews will wash them in return for a donation to charity.
Money raised on the day will be donated to the Fire Fighters Charity, which helps firefighters live ‘healthier and happier’.
Station commander at Swanage Fire Station, Nick Corben, said: “It’s great to be able to hold the car wash event at the fire station and raise money for a really good cause – The Fire Fighters Charity. It helps not only firefighters but also their families in times of hardship and difficulty.
“There’s also residential care for those in need of support with recovery from injury or illness, as well as offering general information and advice – it’s a very worthwhile charity.
“Not only do we hope that many will give generously to the charity but it will also be a good chance to welcome people to the fire station again, so do come and visit us.”
