Reserves squander two goal lead

Despite leading 2-0 at half time, Swans Reserves suffered a 3-2 away defeat against Blandford United Reserves on the 3G surface in Dorset League Division 1.

Swans produced a bright start with some neat football and were rewarded after 11 minutes with the opening goal from a Simon Page header following a cross from Charlie Brassington. The midfield trio of Parrott, Clarke and Brassington were prominent and produced chances for Atkinson and Peacock, then the Royals keeper Geary denied Peacock with a good save. Aaron Atkinson doubled his sides lead firing into an empty goal when home keeper Geary misjudged a long ball from Swans keeper Taylor Hibbs which bounced over him. Sam Peacock missed the target when well placed just before the break.

The Royals seemed a different side in the second half and enjoyed the lion’s share of
possession and deservedly reduced the arrears when Billy Arnott fired home. Swans had a great chance for number 3 but Grygiel was fouled when clean through by a Blandford defender who escaped a red card. The Royal Reserves were now in the ascendancy and equalised courtesy of Taylor Webb with a great finish. With just 5 minutes remaining Rob Manson fired the winner from close range to secure the points for the home side and send the Swans home empty handed.
