5G mast plan outside Poole pub submitted

EQUIPMENT to provide 5G coverage could be installed in Poole.

A planning application, by Cignal Infrastructure UK Limited, has been submitted to Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council for a site in Northmead Drive, Stanley Green, near The Acorn pub.

The plan would see a 15m mast, as well as cabinets and other equipment installed, to provide 5G coverage in the area.

“The location has been identified as being necessary for Cignal Infrastructure UK Limited business development and meets its specific technical and operational requirements,” the application said.

The site had been specially selected, the application said

It said the height of the pole had been ‘kept down to the absolute minimum capable of providing the required essential new 5G coverage’.

“The site has been selected on a wide adopted area of the highway in a position that will not impede pedestrian flow or the safety of passing motorists,” it added.

The equipment was ‘considered unlikely to have any material impact on the local area’, the plan said, while delivering ‘significant connectivity improvements’.

“The mast will be positioned on a wide grass verge, avoiding impeding pedestrian flow and allowing pedestrians to maintain unrestricted access to the footpath,” it went on.

“Adjacent to the site is existing street furniture such as streetlamps, which share similar vertical columns to the mast, supporting it in visually assimilating into the setting.”
