Cow rescued after getting stuck in Wareham bog

THIS was a sticky situation.

A cow needed to be moo-ved pretty quickly after getting stuck in a bog in Wareham.

Fire crews were called to the scene, in meadows behind Lady St Mary’s Church, at around 3.45pm on Thursday afternoon (May 18).

A Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The rest of the herd looked on as firefighters and Poole Fire Station’s Tech Rescue crew rescued the stricken animal.

“The herd escaped from its field due to a gate being left open, by some walkers.

“The happy cow is now grazing in his rightful place.”

Leaving field gates open is a constant problem. Many non-country people out for a walk just do not understand why shutting gates is so important, yet farmers can’t lock gates or replace with access restrictive versions these days.
