A MAN has been arrested after a bike was stolen in Poole – and police are keen to trace the owner.
At around 11.25pm on Saturday, March 11, Dorset Police received a report a man was seen using a metal pole to break the lock off a bicycle that had been secured to a bike rack in the tunnel that leads from Falkland Square to Poole train station.
Officers attended and a man was reportedly located nearby pushing the bicycle, which was suspected to have been stolen.
A 53-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested and subsequently charged with theft. He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on March 29.
PC Jade Harper, of Poole police, said: “Officers were able to recover the bike, but we have so far been unable to identify the owner.
“I am now issuing an image of the bicycle and would urge anyone who recognises it to please come forward.”
